About Us

Founders Dr. Jeffrey Meltzer and Dr. Leigh Meltzer know firsthand that illness and medical debt can affect families of any kind. Dr. Meltzer and his wife Leigh have delivered thousands of Hoosiers over the past 20 years as practicing obstetrician/gynecologists.

Dr. Jeffrey Meltzer obtained his B.A. in religious studies and his M.D. from Emory University in Atlanta. In 2012, he obtained an M.B.A. in healthcare management from Auburn University. Dr. Jeffrey Meltzer brings more than 20 years of healthcare and business experience to the table. He has served on numerous not-for-profit boards, including IU Health North Hospital, Jewish Federation of Greater Indianapolis and Marquette Senior Living.

Dr. Leigh Meltzer obtained her B.A. and M.D. from Indiana University. She trained in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Maryland Medical Systems. Leigh and Jeffrey met there and relocated back home to Indianapolis. After raising three terrific young women, they are ready to give back.

Why We Do It

“While providing healthcare to thousands of Hoosiers over the past 20 years, it became clear to me the cost of healthcare can be overwhelming. The burden of medical debt can be suffocating to Hoosiers and their families. We started the Indiana Health Fund to help hard-working Hoosiers recover — not just from illness but from the cost of care itself.” Dr. Jeffrey Meltzer, President and Founder of Indiana Health Fund.

Leigh and Jeffrey and the rest of the board bring passion and experience as they help to tackle a major social and economic problem in Indiana: the personal emotional and financial hardship brought about by illness and associated personal and medical debt.
